From now on volunteers can use "cas_adminATihep.ac.cn" (replace AT with @) to have direct contact with CAS@home team about project related questions.

志愿者们可以使用"cas_adminATihep.ac.cn" (将AT 替换为 @)与cas@home的项目人员直接联系。但是这个邮件列表只用于跟项目相关的问题。

Why don't you use this established forum, where others with the same questions can get the answers as well?
Why use something like email, that's strictly private, for help that should be strictly open?

The new email address is certainly meant as an additional way of communicating with the project staff. It doesn't mean that this forum isn't important anymore, and I also think that most of the discussion about the project should still take place here. But I certainly welcome any new and effective way of facilitating communication between us volunteers and the researchers. As long as there is frequent communication and a regular exchange of ideas between volunteers and researchers, I can see a bright future for cas@home and its new upcoming sub-projects!

That is right, this email address is for emergent contact, for exampel, when volunteers see computation errors which need to be fixed ASAP, for less emergent discussion, please still use the forum! We have to go this way because we have very limited manpower at this moment, so reponse to the forum thread may take longer.
Also it would be good idea to post your problems in forum for future sharing between volunteers., but to call for prompt attention from the project team, you can send an email and refer the question from the forum..

I can't come up with a single reason why this should be so.

One click on the link to the forum in your bookmarks, and you see where's something new in the last hours.
If you click in the different subfora, and for errors in the number crunching part, you can even see where's a new post that you haven't read yet, that's the thread with the little yellow thingy in front of the title.

Even if you bookmark all 4 (in words four) subfora seperately and click there one after the other, that's no more than 10 seconds to look for relevant posts. Do this first thing in the morning, when you go to lunchbreak, and last thing in the evening, and you will see quite fast if there is something fishy going on.

To proclaim that this procedure is more time-consuming than reading emails is unbelievable, it's plain wrong.

Edith says:
If this forum would be as crowded and lively as the one over at SETI, I could understand you a bit, but with this one here, with about 1-3 new posts per day, this excuse is just ridiculous.

strange that the admins would have a life outside of this project.

Thanks for sharing this emergency contact Wenjing.
It is actually a good idea.

I just hope that the admins will not really only on mail for community communication. The forum is and has to be the main tool of communication.

Thanks Wenjing and let's increase the computing power of the project through good communication.
